Overnight Oatmeal

This recipe is perfect for camping! You can make it the night before or the morning of departure, and have breakfast ready the next morning! No cooking! We make this in plastic storage containers, each a serving so we can all customize our mix. It’s like Bircher Muesli (which we love love love, look it up if you haven’t tried it!) but lower calorie and way easier to make. It’s a keeper! Ingredients:

BASE (required)

  • oats
  • milk
  • a seal-tight container to store your final product in the fridge

ADDITIONS (suggestions)

  • strawberries
  • bananas
  • pineapple
  • apple
  • cranberries
  • peaches
  • nut butter
  • protein powder

TOPPINGS (suggestions)

  • almonds
  • coconut shavings
  • lemon zest
  • chocolate chips
  • syrup
  • honey

First put together the base, which can be as much as you want as long as the ratio is 1:1:1 for oats, milk, and yogurt. Unless you don’t want to use yogurt (which is fine). If you don’t want to, the ratio of oats to milk is still 1:1. Either way, I like to make the base at least half of the container’s volume, leaving room for the other stuff you want to add. Below, I used the yogurt with the fruit gelatin stuff to stir in on the bottom..

then just add in whatever additions and toppings you want…

(I used apples, cranberries, strawberries, pineapple, almonds, and honey)

Now just mix together and sit back and relax while this soaks in the fridge or cooler overnight!

Wake up to an instant, yummy breakfast!
